Combined Solar Rebates Mean Money In Your Pocket

Even though the benefits of using a clean, renewable energy source are evident, some people wonder if alternative energies are worth the increased installation and system costs. It’s no secret that renewable-energy HVAC systems cost a bit more. The truth is, however, if a homeowner can’t afford the systems, the benefits of decreased operating costs and lower carbon footprints do little to persuade them to choose alternative sources.

The Canadian government has committed to producing environmentally-friendly ways to power HVAC equipment by offering rebates. Combining government rebates with other available incentives makes the steps to getting to solar power just a little bit easier.

Available government rebates include $1,250 for solar water heaters. There are qualifying factors you must first meet, like providing at least six gigajoules of energy annually.

HVAC contractors like Arpi’s are sweetening the deal with further incentives. Currently, you can save almost $1,500 with rebates and solar bonuses from manufacturing companies.

Accessing available incentives is one step towards using solar power. It’s also essential to look at some other necessary actions:

  • Know what kind of energy demands you place on your systems so you can determine how much solar power is necessary.
  • Take measures to create maximum energy efficiency in your home. Look at ways you can conserve, like replacing light bulbs to decrease electricity use.
  • Have a contractor assess your home’s site for solar use. A contractor will calculate how much sun your home receives based on the direction PV panels will face. The contractor will also look for any obstructions (like shade trees) that might impact solar gains.
  • Contact your utility company about connecting your system to its power grid. This makes it possible for you to get credit for any extra electricity you make.

Rebates make using alternative energies like solar more appealing. Arpi’s knows about renewable energies. Call us to inquire about solar HVAC systems. We can help you figure out the incentives you qualify for, as well as assess your site’s solar gains and system needs.

Our goal is to help educate our customers about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems). For more information, click here to download our free Home Comfort Resource guide.
