5 Simple Summer HVAC Maintenance Tips

5 Simple Summer HVAC Maintenance TipsThe easiest way to avoid high cooling bills is to provide HVAC maintenance. HVAC systems need routine care and to be used within their operating limits for the most efficient and dependable performance. This summer, you should:

  1. Have your A/C serviced. Nothing goes further to improve your cooling efficiency like professional cleaning and service. Over time, dirt and dust enter the system and undermine its ability to perform as intended.

The adjustments, oiling and calibration that HVAC pros perform restore it to its original condition as closely as possible. If yours is newer, professional servicing may be required to keep the warranty valid.
  2. Check the air filters routinely. A lot of air passes over the air filter and its sole purpose is to trap offending particles that will harm your system. Make it a point to check the air filter monthly as a critical part of HVAC maintenance during the heat of the summer and change it when it’s dirty. It will increase the airflow through the system that cuts cooling costs.
  3. Keep the condenser clean. Keep an eye on the condenser and remove any vegetative debris that collects nearby. Hose off the coils periodically to remove dust.
  4. Manage humidity. Indoor humidity affects your comfort and the ability of your air conditioner to make you feel comfortable. Higher humidity translates to less comfort and more work for your cooling system. Use the kitchen and bathroom fans when cooking and bathing.

As useful as these fans are, remember to turn them off after they’ve done their jobs. They may be small, but they’re capable of pulling a lot of cooled air outside.
  5. Avoid overdoing it. Don't turn the thermostat way down to cool your home down quickly. Unless you have a variable-speed system, HVAC equipment won’t cool any faster if you set the thermostat to extremes. You run the risk of overcooling your home if you forget to turn the temperature up.

These easy HVAC maintenance chores will keep your system running at its peak this summer. To schedule servicing, contact Arpi’s Industries, providing trusted HVAC services for Calgary area homeowners.
