Some Facts On The Importance Of Duct Cleaning

Phil Laprairie

Indoor air pollution is becoming a growing concern for households and businesses across the globe. People who live or work in homes or buildings with poor air quality may experience bothersome respiratory symptoms and even develop illnesses due to poor indoor air quality. Fortunately, something can be done about indoor air pollution.

In the absence of regular air duct cleaning, duct work may become clogged with layers of dust, dirt, pet danger, dust mites, allergens, mold spores and other pollutants. These particles collect in air ducts, causing people to breathe in these harmful particles when the heat is turned on. What’s worse, if excess moisture exists, there is increased potential for microbiological (or mold) growth, which may be released into your home’s or building’s indoor air.

Mold contaminants may cause breathing difficulties or allergic reactions in some people. We recommend air duct cleaning if particles are being released in your home through supply registers from excessive dust and debris-clogged ducts, mold growth inside the ducts or HVAC system components or ducts that are or were infested with rodents.

We believe that regular air duct cleaning for your HVAC system is one of the best ways to prevent health problems associated with indoor air pollution. Air duct cleaning can help to remove these particles by cleaning the forced air components of your heating system, which includes both the supply and return air flow ducts, registers, heat exchangers and heating coils, drip pans, fan motors and diffusers. If not properly maintained, these components could become contaminated with dust, debris, and other allergens.

Lastly, when getting your HVAC system cleaned, it’s important to have all components within the system cleaned in order to prevent re-contamination of your entire HVAC system.
