In order to drive safely, people must learn basic traffic laws and understand terms like, “right of way,” “interchange,” and, “on ramp/off ramp.” While these phrases are most likely commonplace to you now, there was probably a learning curve when you first began driving.

The same goes for the HVAC industry. Unless you eat, sleep and breathe HVAC, you might not know what MERV, AFUE and SEER mean; however, as a homeowner, it’s important that you get to know them.

A good furnace is like a trusted friend – especially here in the Calgary area. When the cold winds blow, your furnace is the main comfort standing between you and the winter freeze outside. But if your system is more than 10 years old, there’s a very good chance it’s approaching the end of its lifespan as an efficient unit. As a furnace ages, it requires more maintenance and repair, and ever increasing energy prices begin to show up in the monthly bill. Older furnaces just weren’t built with the energy-efficient technology we have today.
